[Class 40 (vii)] A distant reflecting &c. object is located by first using a fan-shaped beam adjustable in elevation and then a pencil-shaped beam movable angularly through the area covered by the first beam. The invention is described with reference to a system identical with that described in Specification 654,221. Specifications 517,264, 654,222 and 654,224 also are referred to.
