[Class 83 (iv)] [Also in Group XI] The bit a of an electric soldering-iron has at least one electric heating member arranged between an outer wall a<SP>1</SP>and an inner core a<SP>2</SP> of the bit. The core may consist of the upstanding part between two parallel slots in the bit, or a similar part formed in the centre of an annular groove. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also a bit which may have merely a single slot a<SP>3</SP> for the heating member, carried in two casing members f rotatably carried on a frame h. Each member f has a rounded boss f cooperating with rounded parts h<SP>1</SP> on each of the two members h so that the bit may be swivelled to different angular positions. The members f are clamped top and bottom by screws f<SP>2</SP> and g respectively. A wooden handle j carries terminals k. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
