Abstract

653,853. Tamping machines for moulding hollow blocks from concrete &c. SOC. D'- EXPLOITATION DES PROCEDES DE CONSTRUCTION P. ROUZAUD. March 31, 1948, No. 9066. Convention date, April 1, 1947. [Class 87 (ii)] Hollow blocks are made in a mould having an open bottom and side walls rigid with a top wall. The top has secured thereto cores 9 and partitions for separating one block from another, and has holes to receive tampers 8. The mould rests on a transfer plate supported by a table having cores 4a passing through holes in the transfer plate. Concrete falls from a hopper 31 to a feed box 34. A door 32 on the hopper is opened by a pin 40 on the box which engages a trip 41 on the door. The box is reciprocated by a pneumatic cylinder 38 to fill the mould. To facilitate filling, the box may have oblique partitions or the box or the mould may be vibrated. The tampers 8 are operated by a pneumatic piston 10. When the concrete has been tamped to the desired level, catches on the tamper carriage engage in vertical columns to hold the tampers stationary. The mould is then raised by pneumatic jacks 13, 12 to remove the mould from the blocks. The jack 13 is provided to give sufficient force for the initial separation of the blocks and the mould. The tampers are then released and moved upwardly. The mould is raised further by jacks 11 and, simultaneously, rods 23, attached to the mould, lift a wheeled carriage 26a to engage and lift the transfer plate. The plate with the moulded blocks is removed from the machine by a pneumatically operated fork 44 which engages a pin 45 on the carriage. The jacks may be controlled by hand or by clockcontrolled electromagnetic means. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also the use of two mouldlifting jacks, one replacing jacks 12, 13 and the other replacing jacks 11. The jacks acting successively on a cable which rotates a cam, the profile of which is such as to give a greater lifting force at the beginning of the movement of the mould. A vibrator may be placed on the mould or play may be provided in the drive of the pneumatic piston to facilitate removal. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
