Abstract
652,998. Dielectric heating. BRINTONS, Ltd. Feb. 10, 1948, No. 3842. [Class 39(iii)] The unevenness of the heating effect which occurs in a system in which a stationary standing wave is established is reduced to a small value by causing the tuning of the external circuit to change over substantially instantaneously' from one to the other of two values corresponding to two positions of the standing wave, separated from one another along the electrodes by a distance equal to an odd number of quarter wavelengths of the high frequency supply source. Inductances 11, 12 are arranged so that one is disconnected as the other is connected across the electrodes 1, 2 and vice versa at a predetermined rate to produce an alternating displacement of the standing wave. Specification 599,529 is referred to.
