[Class 87 (ii)] [Also in Group XXIII] In the moulding of toothbrushes of the kind comprising a handle and head portion 4 in side-by-side sections 6, 8 and 10, with tufts of bristles in said sections arranged with the outer rows extending longitudinally of the head and with a spring member within the head to connect and space said sections, the spring member is in the form of a U having a narrow loop portion 16 at its curved end and side arms 14 terminating in eyes or loops 20, the aforesaid loop portion and eyes or loops serving to co-operate with locating means in the mould to support the spring member in proper position for the moulding of the material around it, the arrangement being such that in the finished brush, the narrow loop portion 16 is positioned in the section 6 adjacent and integral with the handle and the side arms 14 extend along and adjacent the outer rows of the tufts of bristles, through the side-by-side sections, and the eyes or loops 20 are in the endmost bristle section 10. The locating means are so arranged in the mould to engage loop portion 16 and eyes 20 whereby sockets are formed in the moulded brush which may receive tufts 12<SP>1</SP>. Sockets to receive tufts 12 may be formed in any manner. The spring member is preferably of wire flattened to taper from loop end 16 to the eyes 20. There may be provided connectors 15 integral with the sections 6, 8 and 10 extending therebetween and around the spring member arms 14. The brush-head sections may yield relative to one another to facilitate the bristles conforming to the teeth. Specification 647,916, [Group XXIII], is referred to.
