646,454. Co-axial lines. POLYTECHNIC INSTITUTE OF BROOKLYN. Dec. 5, 1947, No. 32198. Convention date, Jan. 2, 1946. [Class 40 (viii)] In a co-axial cable the centre conductor 3 is supported by a thin dielectric bead 2 positioned in an annular groove formed in at least one of the conductors and the mismatch caused by the additional capacity introduced by the corners of the grooves is substantially eliminated by an increase of the characteristic impedance of the bead section over and above the characteristic impedance of the cable. Mathematical formulµ are given to determine the actual values required for particular cases.
