Abstract

646,324. Dressing fish. ARENCO AKTIEBOLAG. Oct. 15, 1948, No. 26903. Convention date, Oct. 17, 1947. [Class 28(ii)] A fish dressing machine comprises a conveyer 1 having fish carrier members 4 of which the fish head portions 5 at least are trough-shaped and are provided with openings 6 adapted to receive a movable or stationary fish dressing member 7 positioned in the path of the carriers 4 a supporting member 24 for guiding the fish head being associated with means, e.g. a pair of endless chains 15, for periodically introducing the supporting member 24 into the opening 6 and out of it before the carrier member 4 reaches the dressing member 7. The fish is moved longitudinally by any convenient method so that its head is jammed in the trough 5 of the carrier 4, which may also be tapered at that end, before the member 24 is withdrawn from the opening 6. By this means the fish head is correctly aligned in the carrier 4 prior to the dressing operation. The dressing member 7, e.g. a pair of pincers, and the supporting members 24, are respectively driven through a system of sprockets from driving shafts 27 and 17. A single supporting member 24 only may be used, and may be operated by a rotary cam disc, or several members may be pivotably mounted on the conveyer 1 and be moved along a guide adapted to swing them into and out of the openings 6.
