[Class 43] A button consists of front and rear parts placed on opposite sides of the fabric or the like, the faces engaging the fabric being smooth, and the parts being held in position by a separate screw which enters a plain hole in the rear part and a tapped hole in the front so that when the screw is turned the parts approach one another without rotating. The parts may be of metal, bone or other relatively strong material. The planoconvex rear part 2 of a button, placed with its flat face against the back of the fabric 5, has a countersunk hole for the head of a screw 3 which goes through the fabric into a tapped hole in the front part 1, the latter comprising two integral plano-convex sections 6, 7 with their convex surfaces adjoining to form a waist, the section 7 acting as the button proper and the section 6 as a clamp. In a modification the sections 6, 7 are separate, only the outer section 7 being tapped. The section 7 may be convex on both sides, or spherical or cylindrical, and the rear part 2 may be a flat disc.
