Abstract

640,740. Casings. DAVEY, PAXMAN, & CO., Ltd., and PAXMAN, E. P: Feb. 26, 1948, No. 5869. [Class 7(ii)] [Also in Group X] A sound insulating hood for an engine comprises end walls, (not shown), which may be covered by bowed casings i, i<SP>1</SP> and which are connected by frame members r, s, on which insulating panels t, t<SP>1</SP>, t<SP>2</SP> are detachably mounted. The end walls are preferably, light metal castings, and the casings are formed of sheet metal and carry instruments and control devices, (not shown), and ventilation louvres p from which conduits lead through filters for the combustion air. Removable panels surrounding the driving shaft are also provided. The inner sides of the casings, end walls and panels are covered with felt or other sound - deadening material, e:g. that known by the Registered Trade Mark " Cellotex," which may be fixed by adhesive or by bending over the edges.
