639,100. Vehicle underframes. ABBEY, A. (Aktiebolaget Scania-Vabis). April 13, 1948, No. 10295. [Class 108 (ii)] A vehicle comprises a removable self-supporting body and an underframe, the latter comprising two or more frame structures each having transverse members which are secured to corresponding transverse members on the body. As shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the body 1 has four transverse members 2, 3, 4, 5 integral therewith. The body is mounted on two frame structures, one consisting of transverse members 12, 13 and longitudinal members 14, 15 carrying the running gear 15, the other consisting of transverse members 6, 7 and longitudinal members 8, 9 carrying the running gear 11. The transverse members 12, 13, 6 and 7 are bolted to the transverse body members 2, 3, 4 and 5. The two underframes may be interconnected by intermediate members 18, on which auxiliaries may be mounted. Guide members 20, Fig. 3, may be secured to one or more of the transverse body members to facilitate mounting of the body on the underframe.
