Abstract

638,468. Tube scrapers. HUBBARD, L. H., and SLOUGH ENGINEERING CO., Ltd. March 22, 1948. No. 8385. [Class 99(ii)] A rotatable suppport e, which may be tubular, mounted in the centre of a chamber c in which fats &c. are cooled by refrigerant passing around the outside, carries a number of scrapers each comprising a knife-blade h set at a small angle to the internal surface of the chamber and attached to an arm g pivoted at a joint f so that it may rock slightly to maintain the blades in action. The arms have a length less than half the circumference of the support and are shaped to fit wholly within the annular space between the support and chamber. The support may revolve such that the arms move in advance of their pivots, springs k housed in recesses l may urge the arms outwardly and the blades may be axially arranged to engage overlapping zones of the chamber surface.
