638,455. Excavating earth. GAGIE, R. A. Jan. 12, 1948, No. 932. [Class 68 (i)] The yoke of a bulldozer attachment comprises a V-shaped tubular frame 10 which is loosely attached at its apex 11 to a draw-bar or similar fixture 13 positioned at the rear of a tractor or truck. The arms of the yoke project forwards between the front and rear wheels 14, 15 to end in two parallel limbs 10A on or in which slide tubes 17 pivotally connected to the blade 18. The tubes may be adjusted independently of each other with respect to the V- frame so that the blade may be angled, adjustment being either by means of rack and pinion mechanisms or by pins 21 passing through each limb of the yoke and one of a series of holes 20 in each tube 17. The blade may also pivot about a horizontal axis and be provided with a detachable reversible edge for back grading. The height of the blade with respect to the ground is regulated by two droppers 30 pivotally secured to a brace 16 between the ends of the yoke, the dropper being attached to interconnected arms 28 forming part of a bell-crank lever which is rotated about its pivot manually or by a hydraulic ram 42. To prevent side sway, an adjustable radius bar 49, 50, 54 is connected between the front of the tractor chassis and the brace 16.
