638,257. Packing sutures. MERSONS (SUTURES), Ltd. May 10, 1948, No. 12829. Convention date, July 15, 1947. [Classes 81(i) and 81 (ii)] [Also in Group XVII] A hermetically sealed container 12 contains one or more sealed suture tubes 16 immersed in a sterilizing solution 22. Each suture tube 16 contains surgical sutures wound on a notched strip 18 immersed in a sterile suture tubing fluid 20. The container 12 has a friction closure lid 14 and may have a key-tear-strip combination opening element. A fibrous mat may be placed inside the container at each end to cushion the ends of the tubes. The sterilizing solution 22 in which the tubes 16 are immersed is preferably of a specific gravity less than that of the tubes and may consist of isopropyl alcohol, formaldehyde, sodium nitrite, sodium bicarbonate and water.
