Abstract
636,756. Coffee makers. SUNBEAM CORPORATION. July 4, 1947, No. 17742. Convention date, Dec. 6, 1940. [Class 129] A filter assembly for a coffee maker of the vacuum type comprising intercommunicating upper and lower vessels, consists of a filter cloth 44 arranged between upper and lower frames carried by a rod 26 making screwed engagement with a stud 27, Fig. 1, on the lower vessel so as to clamp the vessels together and hold the cloth in operative position to form a seal. The frames are mounted on a sleeve 69 which can move freely on the rod between abutments 32, 33. It consists of a member 64 Fig. 3, loosely mounted on the sleeve and having an annular rim, and a three-armed spider 67, the arms of which enter recesses 68 in the rim. The member 64 is held against the spider by a spring 72, Fig. 1. The lower frame 62, Fig. 3, is held in position on the sleeve by a sliding plate 63. If the filter cloth becomes blocked the member 64 and the parts of the filter cloth between the arms of the spider lift to relieve the pressure on the lower vessel. With excessive pressure the arms of the spider move to allow the vessels to separate. Specification 636,757 is referred to.
