Abstract

635,438. Electric hairbrushes. MOODY, P. April 13, 1948, No. 10199. [Class 81(ii)] In an electric hairbrush the current is conducted to the bristles through a resilient pad of conducting material interposed between the stock and the flexible sheet upon which the bristles are mounted. As shown, steel wire bristles 3 are fixed in the rubber sheet 2 secured to the stock 1. the space between the sheet and stock being filled with steel wool 4. Dry cells 6, 7, 8, connected in series by contact strips 9, 10, are mounted in the recess 5a of the cover 5, one pole of the battery being connected to the electrode 15 via contact strip 12, resistance 13 and strip 14 for contact with the hand of the user, whilst the other pole is connected to the steel wool 4 through the strip 24 and cover securing screw 17. If the cover 5 is of metal the various electrical connections are suitably insulated and the electrode 15 may be omitted, one pole of the battery being connected directly to the cover.
