Abstract
Metal, glass or plastic surfaces are rendered wax-repellent by coating them with a polyethylene glycol of molecular weight between 400 and 3000 and preferably between 500 and 600. The polyethylene glycol may be applied alone or mixed with another hydrophilic substance such as water, glycerol or glycol, a preferred mixture comprising one part by weight of water and five parts by weight of polyethylene glycol. The material may be applied by smearing on to the surface, by passage to the surface from ducts from behind connected to grease-gun nipples or by passing through the pores of sintered metal. Specifications 349,638 and 487,652, [Group IV], are referred to.
