[Class 59] A crushing and grinding medium comprises a body 20 of substantially spherical .shape having at least one centrally positioned cylindrical band 22 presenting a straight line in transverse section, the periphery of the body between the outside edges of the band being substantially circular. The body may be formed with two centrally positioned cylindrical bands 23, 23a, Fig. 2, intersecting at right angles. The body is made essentially of tungsten carbide.
