634,863. Electrically heated cooking appliance. SUNBEAM CORPORATION. July 10, 1947, No. 18314. Convention date, Dec. 9, 1940. [Class 39 (iii)] [Also in Groups VI, XXXV and XXXVII] A thermostatically controlled cooking appliance for making waffles between two electrically heated grids 8 and 11, has wall means 94 extending downwardly from the lower grid 8 in a manner surrounding the thermostatic switch 68 and shielding it from the heating elements 41 of the lower grid. The components of the switch are secured to the said walls in a plane normal to the lower grid and a rod 97 threaded through one of the walls permits the setting of the switch to be adjusted. The grids are heated by helically coiled resistance wires 63 wound between insulating buttons 64, the buttons being received on pins struck from reflector plates 29 and 59 behind each grid. The upper and lower heating elements are connected in series and the circuit includes a lamp 53 to indicate when the heating coils are energized. The plates are so mounted that in their closed position relative vertical movement between the grids is possible.
