Abstract

An insect repelling composition for application to man, animal or inanimate objects, comprises a mixture of eucalyptus, juniper berry, basil and camphor oils, preferably in the proportion of 50 per cent by weight of eucalyptus oil and 50 per cent by weight of a mixture of equal parts of the other oils. The compositions may include up to 5 per cent of perfume with or without the further addition of one or more of the following:-juice extract from the stem or foliage of the tomato plant, powdered flower clusters of the corn marigold (chrysanthemum), extract of husks of black elderberries and extract of stems and foliage of marsh-rosemary. The extracts are prepared by treating 100 parts of material with 10 to 15 parts of alcohol at normal temperatures.
