Abstract
633,593. Filling va,lve-bags. BILLERUDS AKTIEBOLAG. Dec. 22, 1947, No. 33810. Convention date, Aug. 9, 1941. [Class 94(i)] In a valve-bag filling machine comprising a series of bag filling devices 5 each provided with a hopper 6 and filler tube 7 and mounted in a circle on a continuouslyrotating assembly 1, and a lesser number of stationary automatic weighing machines 10 adapted to weigh determined quantities of material which are afterwards released into the hoppers as they pass below the weighing machines, by means of abutments or the like which rotate with the assembly, a safety device is provided for each of the filling devices, which when there is no bag on the respective filler tube, occupies a safety position preventing the release of the respective weighing machine by the abutment, but when passing an empty bag on to the filler tube, is moved out of the safety position by the bag. The assembly 1 has wheels 3 running on circularly disposed rails 4 and rotates about a central axis 2. Each filling device 5 has a feed-screw or like feeding means (not shown) driven by a motor 8. Each bag rests on a carrier 9 which may be vibrated. In the arrangement shown, the weighing machines are arranged above half of the circular path of travel of the filling devices. The release mechanisms of the weighing-machines are operated by electro-magnets (not shown) the circuits of which are operated by the abutments (not shown) or contacts etc. replacing the abutments. The safety device may be purely mechanical, but as shown (Fig. 2) comprises a contact device 11 in the circuit of the corresponding electromagnet. A movable pin 13 is automatically engaged by the bag 12 to render the contact device 11 operative.
