Abstract

632,030. Pipe couplings. BROSTROM, F. V. Jan. 15, 1948, No. 1307. [Class 99(i)] In a disconnectible coupling of the kind comprising a first part 6 having a flange 5 adapted to engage in a recess 3 and behind a part-circular flange 1 on a second part 2 formed with a seating 4 for an elastic packing-ring 9, the interengaging parts are so formed that axial movement to compress the ring 9 is necessary for connection and disconnection. As shown, the ends of the flange 1 are close enough together to prevent the flange 5 from passing between them whereby the coupling can only be assembled by axial movement as the part 6 is moved radially. The flange 5 finally seats in a recess 8. Either or both parts 2, 6 may have a collar such as 12 extending part way into the ring 9. A screw thread 11 enables: the part 2 to be screwed into a rubber hose-pipe.
