Abstract

631,572. Shearing; bending. CROUCHER, A. H., HALL, W. R., and NORTH BRITISH LOCOMOTIVE CO., Ltd. Dec. 5, 1947, No. 32137. [Class 83 (iv)] A back gauge for a shearing or bending machine is operated from the front of the machine and carries means for indicating its setting. The gauge 2 at each side carries nuts 3 engaging screws 4 operated through a crossshaft 9 by a hand wheel 17. The shaft 9 is divided and connected by a hand operated clutch to -permit each screw 4 to be independently operated for canting the back gauge. A tape 33 is connected to the nut 3 and to a spring box 42 is graduated to indicate in a window 45 the setting of the gauge.
