Abstract
630,815. Radio signalling. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd. Aug. 8, 1947, No. 21927. Convention date, Sept. 18, 1946. [Class 40 (v)] A system for selectively calling any one of a number of receiving stations comprises a call indicating circuit at the receiving station, a control circuit responsive to a station selector signal to prepare the call indicating circuit for operation and means responsive to a further signal to energize the call indicating circuit. The station selector system comprises as described in Specification 630,819 tuned reeds 11, 12, 13 successively operated to bias and render inoperative a normally oscillating gaseous tube 24 so that the contacts 31, 30 of a normally energized relay 29 fall back and respectively apply H.T. to the output valve of the receiver and a holding bias to the tube 24 as long as a carrier wave is transmitted. On a further modulation frequency being received a further tuned reed 54 is vibrated to energize from battery B a second relay 46, closing contacts 47, 48, 49, so that a bell 44 and lamp 45 are both energized during a calling signal. After the carrier wave ceases the relay contacts 30, 31 drop back and the bell stops but relay 46 remains energized due to a holding circuit through the telephone hook switch 61, 62, contact 49, the relay coil 46, and lamp 45 which remains lit to register that a call has been made. On the telephone being lifted the holding circuit is broken and the relay and lamp deenergized.
