[Class 29] An open-topped refrigerated display case has a storage chamber 4 separated from the display space 2 by a duct 10, through which cool air is circulated, the wall 6 of the' air duct bounding the storage space being made of good heat conducting material, while the wall 8 bounding the display space is apertured to allow the cooled air to pass into the display space. The display case comprises a glass front panel 12 and glass end panels 18, the goods being supported on an inclined perforated shelf 8 spaced above the imperforate conducting partition 6 to form the air circulating duct 10. A baffle wall 28 spaced from the insulated rear wall 22 along the whole length of the case forms an air passage 30 in the upper part of which refrigerating coils 32 are positioned. At the centre of the case the partition 6 has an inclined well 52 communicating with an aperture 48 in the baffle wall 28 and containing a fan 50 which draws air through an elongated inlet 40 above the shelf 8 and through the duct 30 past the cooling coils 32. The cold air passes upwardly in the well 52 and is deflected by a baffle plate 54 towards opposite ends of the case to pass to the goods through the perforations' in the shelf 8. The baffle 54 may be perforated to permit limited flow of air upwardly. Moist air entering the open top is drawn off through the inlet 40. Within the duct 30 inclined deflecting members 56 direct the air towards the aperture 48, these are spaced from the rear wall to allow condensation and defrosting liquid from the coils 32 to drain through an opening 58 to a drain 60. Moisture from the goods passes through a pipe 64 to the drain 60. The storage space 4 is accessible through doors 26. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 describes also a form in which cooled air is supplied to the storage space through an adjustable opening in the wall 52. This air passes to the display case 2 through openings in the ends of the partition 6. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
