Abstract
627,610. Thermocouples. HOLDEN, A. DE F. Dec. 9, 1946, No. 36357. Convention date, Jan. 17. [Class 53] A thermocouple unit 9 is housed in a protective metal tube 4 having a welded end portion 6 which is of the same metal as the tube and is formed by flattening the end of the tube and welding the metal thereof to form a homogenous end part, the space adjacent the closed end of the tube being provided with a metallic filler such as the brazed plug 11 which preferably forms a metal to metal juncture between the hot end of the thermocouple 9 and the tube 4. The remaining portion of the thermocouple may be electrically insulated from the tube by insulating material 10.
