Abstract

Photographic material includes an antihalation layer containing a water-insoluble vinyl pyridine polymer, which may be soluble in an acetic or citric acid bath. The polymer and support may be as described in Specification 626,426, and a clear polyvinyl pyridine layer between the support and the antihalation layer and a casein anti-abrasion layer over the antihalation layer may be provided as described in that Specification. The antihalation layer contains a pigment, such as carbon black, or a dye, a number of which are specified, and in one example, also contains lecithin.
