[Class 108 (iii)] [Also in Groups XXIV and XL(c)] In a device for maintaining the tautness of an endless cord or rope, which device is secured to the cord itself, is carried thereby, and includes two guides by which parts 7, 9 of the cord coming from opposite sides of the device are deflected through about 90 degrees in such manner that these parts substantially coincide after deflection, the guides 3, 5 are formed in a plate 1 by bending two substantially quadrantal edges thereof into the form of troughs, a helical compression-spring 15 surrounding the deflected cord parts and extending between the adjacent end portions of these parts on one hand and the two guides on the other. The ends of the cord are passed through a washer 11 and a deformable sleeve 13, the latter being pinched to secure it to the cord. A pointer for a wireless dial may be secured to or formed integral with the plate 1.
