Abstract

624,944. Scarifiers. CATERPILLAR TRACTOR CO. July 15, 1947, No. 18781. Convention date, Dec. 13, 1938. [Class 107] [Also in Group XXI] A detachable scarifier tooth 8 comprises a broad faced cutting portion 9 and a U-shaped portion 11 which is telescopically mounted over a toothsupporting member. The inner faces of the limbs of the U-shaped portion are each formed with a tapered groove 14 which provides a wedging engagement with complimentary parallel tapered tongues on the tool-supporting member. Each limb is also provided with a flange 18 that is received in non-wedging engagement in a recess in the supporting member. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 states also that the tooth may telescope within the tooth-supporting member, and that the tongues may be provided on the tooth and the complimentary grooves in the tooth-supporting member. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
