Abstract

623,711. Batteries ; couplings. LUCAS, Ltd., J., and SPENCER, G. D. May 19, 1947, No. 13365. [Classes 38 (i) and 53] The lugs 1 of adjacent accumulator cells are provided with shoulders which support an insulating bridge piece 6 at a distance above the partition 3 between the cells. A metal or other die 7 is then placed on the bridge 6 and the lugs connected by pouring melted lead or other metal 8 into the die or by fusing the metal 8 with a torch. The die 7 is subsequently removed. In an alternative method of connecting the lugs the removable die 7 is replaced by a rim formed integrally with the bridge piece 6 which is thus in the form of a cup or dish.
