Abstract
623,545. Stoves. SANFORD, H. W. Oct. 22, 1945, No. 27773. [Class 126] A cooking stove comprises a cooking top, an oven disposed beneath the cooking top and having enclosing walls at all surrounding sides and the top thereof constructed for insulating the oven, heating means beside the oven below the cooking- top and having a flue extending over the insulated top of the oven and between the oven and the cooking top for the passage of the heating gas or media to an outlet, outlet and inlet openings in different walls of the oven, conduits connecting the openings and located externally of the insulated walls of the oven and being in heat exchange relation with the heating means,. and means for positively recirculating the oven air into, through and out of the oven and through the conduits. Air escapes from the oven chamber 16 through holes 26 into the chamber 27 under suction of the motor driven fan 28, is heated in ducts 31 and 34 and returned through the damper controlled opening 35, which is closed when the door 20 is opened. Combustion products from a grate at the side of the oven circulate through the top flue 11 below the hot-plate 6 and may pass straight to the outlet 13 or be turned by the damper 15 into a flue 12. Modifications (not shown) are described in which either the combustion air or the draught may be forced by a motor driven fan, and the heating air fan may be controlled thermostatically and brought into operation only when the door is closed. In another modification Fig. 11, overlapping partitions 83 in the top flue cause the flue gases to take a sinuous course and the heated air passes from the duct 92 into a chamber 94, issues into the oven chamber at 96 in thin peripheral streams and collects in a chamber 89 before reaching the duct 92 either directly via the dampered opening 97, or via the duct 91. A further modification Fig. 14 shows a construction in which the firebox 101 is fed from the hopper 110 by a mechanical feeding device and the heated air circulates, as shown, round the firebox. A gas burner 111 may be fixed in the oven bottom chamber 107 and other burners 113 placed below the hot-plate. The solid fuel grate may be replaced by an oil burner and electric units may be used to heat the oven.
