Abstract

620,901. Extruding. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP PHILIPS' GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN. Jan. 30, 1947, No. 2894. Convention date, Feb. 16, 1944. [Class 83 (iv)] In making by backward extrusion a cylindrical object having some parts at a greater distance from the axis than others, those parts nearer the axis are made thicker in order to counteract the tendency of such parts to rise to a higher level than other parts during the extrusion. The invention may be applied to the extrusion of an object such as a cylindrical pump blade having a cross-section as shown in the Figure. The parts 2 nearer the axis X are made thicker than the more distant parts and include ribs 3 by which the blade may be keyed to a shaft 5.
