617,954. Abrasive tools. STEVENS, A. H. (Behr-Manning Corporation). March 9, 1944, No. 4400. [Class 60] An abrasive tool is formed by winding an abrasive-coated strip upon itself with the edges of the convolutions stepped back to produce a generally tapered or conical working end. As shown, a wedge-shaped strip 15, with the abrasive surface disposed outwards is wound on a mandrel, the lower edge 17 being coated with adhesive to secure the convolutions together. The tool is fixed on a spindle 25 having a screw-threaded part 27 which bites into the material.
