616,967. Indicating-apparatus. MULINEN, E. VON. July 10, 1944, No. 13170. Convention date, July 19, 1943. [Class 106 (iv)] Optical indicating apparatus for producing an enlarged shadow image of at least a part of a movable light obstructing body comprises a number of tapered bars.capable of transmitting light in their lengthwise directions and arranged side-by-side to form at least one coherent tapered light-transmitting member 26, located between the movable body 10, and an indicating surface 8, with the narrow entrance ends 4 of the bars in close proximity to the shadowthrowing surface 28, so that light coming from the fixed source 13 is transmitted through the bars to the indicating surface 8 which lies in proximity to the wider outlet ends of the bars. Specification 558,501 is referred to. Two light-transmitting members 25, 26 may be arranged side-by-side in a common casing, as shown, or in longitudinal relationship to form a single continuous indicating strip (Fig. 1, not shown). The bars may be of transparent material or of tubular construction with internal reflecting surfaces. The light-transmitting member 26 may be twisted. The shadow-throwing surface 28 may be partly transparent and/or coloured. The indicating surface 8 may be partly coloured and graduated.
