Abstract
615,279. Rail joints. CHAGNON, G. July 30, 1946, No. 22617. [Class 104 (ii)] In a scarf joint, the rail head has a single slant cut to form a projecting lip 20 the form of a parallelogram to match a similar lip projecting from the adjacent rail. This lip 20 has an horizontal cut to form a second lip 21 and a ledge 22, the latter receiving the adjacent lip. The upper part of the web of one rail is recessed at 18, 19 to receive a projection formed by recessing the lower part of the web and the base of the adjacent rail.
