Abstract

614,436. Statistical apparatus. ALDA, L. F. March 25, 1946, No. 9106. Convention date, April 23, 1945. [Class 106 (i)] Cards, card holders, samples, &c. are provided with sets of pairs of teeth e arranged in stepped formation and adapted to be cut away so as to be selectively engageable by supporting means f operable to select a given card &c. The teeth are paired off symmetrically about the centre line of the card, so that two teeth are cut away to represent each digit or characteristic (e.g. 2, 6, 9 in Figure). Pairs of bars f are displaced according to the required characteristics so that, when the supporting bars d are moved clear, the selected card or cards are left unsupported and fall down. A sloping base or conveyer belt may be provided below to bring the selected cards to the front. Cards may be returned by re-engaging them with the bars d in front of the file. Protuberances on the cards space them from each other, allowing the selected cards to fall freely.
