[Class 142(iv)] [Also in Group VI] Apparatus for compressing absorbent pads includes a chamber in which a pad is puckered lengthwise by a plunger, compressed sideways to cylindical shape by a die moving towards a fixed die, and ejected through an exit which is parallel to but out of line with the entrance. An enlarged head is then formed on the pad by another die.
