Abstract

611,875. Stoppers &c. SPARGO, R. T. May 13, 1946, No. 14334. [Class 125 (iii)] A closure for a collapsable tube comprises a shutter 3, Fig. 1, having side pieces 5 pivoted at 6 to the outlet nozzle 2 of the tube 1, the nozzle having a semicircular surface 7 concentric with the pivot, and flat sides 9 inclined to each other so that in its closed position the shutter, the sides 5 of which are correspondingly inclined, is frictionally held by a wedging action. The under surface of the closure piece 4 of the shutter may be lined with metal foil, cork, &c. In a modification, Fig. 7, the shutter 3a is pivoted about an axis eccentric to the curved surface 7a of the nozzle so that when the shutter is in the closed position the closure piece 4a is frictionally gripped by the surface 7a. The outer surface 7 and closure piece 4 may be flat, ridged, or slightly rounded and ridged.
