Abstract
608,906. Radio receiving apparatus; directive radio systems. PINKERTON, J. M. M., WILLIAMS, E. K., and PUGH, D. W. March 1, 1946, No. 6517. [Classes 40 (v) and 40 (vii)] An electric switch device for controlling in synchronism at least two circuits, one of which carries radio frequency current, comprises one set of contacts for controlling both of the circuits in common, and filter means in each circuit leading to and from the contacts, for discriminating between the radio frequency currents and the current in the other circuits. A spring set S comprises contact springs 8a, 8b, 8c separated by earthed springs 9. Contact springs Sa, 8b, 8c are connected by series condensers 14a, 14b, 14c to the inner conductors of coaxial cables 5a, 5b, 5c to provide low impedance radio frequency paths, and by chokes such as 15a to terminal tags 16a (only one shown) so as to pass only low-frequency currents. Screens 6 together with the baseplate 2, 3 and a cover (not shown) provide screened compartments for the filter elements. The middle contact spring 8b is arranged to be moved to engage contacts 8a, 8c alternately by means of insulating rollers 12 on an arm 11 which is oscillated by a motor 13. The switch may be used in the direction-finding system described in Specification 587,517, in which two aerials are switched alternately to the input of a receiver and the output is switched in synchronism to alternate plates of a cathode-ray tube.
