Abstract
607,868. Impedance networks. AUTOMATIC SIGNAL CORPORATION. June 8, 1945, No. 14617. Convention date, May 18, 1944. [Class 40 (viii)] [Also in Groups XXXVI and XXXVIII] A road traffic detector employs two oppositely wound sets of coils 14, 140 and 15, 150 spaced beneath the roadway in the direction of traffic flow. Each coil is wound on a vertical rod of magnetic material so that with the passing of traffic an E.M.F. is induced. The coils 14, 140 and 15, 150 are associated with resistance-capacity delay networks 40, 42, 44, 46 and 41, 43, 45, 47 respectively so that for traffic in one direction the successive impulses due to the respective coils are superimposed and neutralize one another as shown in Fig. 8, whereas for traffic in the other direction separate impulses are effective on an amplifier to cause the operation of a relay, Fig. 7 (not shown). Sizes are given in the Specification for the components of each network, whereby for any speed between 3 and 60 m.p.h. the result described above may be achieved.
