[Classes 75 (i) and 75(iii)] [Also in Group XVII] A domestic gas lighter comprises a handle portion a<2> with an extension a<1> on which is rotatably mounted a rod b having a flint wheel d at the far end and an operating knob c at the near end to be actuated by a finger or thumb, a fuel container j with wick being clipped on the device and adapted to be positioned adjacent the flint wheel when the lighter is required for lighting a fire. A downward extension a<4> of the portion a<1> houses an adjustable spring urged flint f. The fuel and wick unit preferably comprises two telescopic tubes j<1>, j<2> with attached spring clip k. The wick hole j<8> is located eccentric to the longitudinal axis of the tube j<2> so that the position of the wick relative to the sparking device can be adjusted by rotating the tube j<2>. When not in use the fuel and wick unit can be clipped to the portion a<1> of the lighter where a wick cap l is provided. A cork screw n or an egg timer, a crown cork opener o<1>, a retractable tin opener p and a groove s for spare flints are provided in the lighter handle.
