Abstract

605,580. Cork &c. stoppers. PROBERT, C. H. Oct. 26, 1945, No. 28277. [Class 125(iii)] A stopper of natural or artificial cork for a vacuum flask &c. is impregnated one or more times with a solution of a film-forming material, e.g. a cellulose derivative vinyl acetate styrene &c., the solvent being then removed preferably by air-drying with gentle heat, the impregnated body being then treated, one or more times with a solution of an organic derivative of cellulose, and finally removing the solvent, so to leave a skin of the derivative adhering to the surface of the impregnated body portion. The impregnation step may be effected under vacuum.
