Abstract

604,937. Weighing-apparatus. RECSI SOC. ANON. Aug. 24, 1945, No. 21795. Convention date, July 14, 1943. [Class 143] A dial automatic weighing machine has additional weights for altering its capacity controlled by levers pivoting on a fixed axis, on one side of which is provided for each lever a return spring and a weightsuspension rod, the lever having profiled rear faces to form cams controlling indicating mechanism, and grooves or locking parts engaging plungers controlled by key levers, the cam levers being provided on the other side of the axis with a part adapted to contact a cam to lift them and facilitate their engagement with the plungers. The beam carries an arm 4 which supports weights 7 by knife-edges 8. These weights are connected to rods 12 pivoted to cam levers 15 which pivot on pins 16 of fixed supports 17. Rotation of a cam 14 on shaft 13 by means of a crank arm 38, Fig. 5, raises the cam levers against springs 18 to the Fig. 1 position with the weights 7 raised. Levers 20 having keys 45 are pivoted at 24, and pawls 25 at 22. Plungers 27 engage the levers in the raised position and carry pins 30 controlled by the levers 20. Other plungers 32 contact the levers 15, and the stops 48, Fig. 5, of a weightindicating device comprising an arm 42 spring 43, and carrying a rod 47 hinged to a pivoted sector 56, Fig. 1, connected by a rod 58 to a lever 60, Fig. 3, pivoted at 61 and hinged at each end 72 to a rack 62 engaging a pinion 63 which carries a disc 65 inscribed with the weight-figures. As shown in Fig. 1, weighings from 0-1 kg. are registered on the dials 67. To weigh between 3-4 kg., key 45 having the numeral 3, Fig. 5, is depressed whereby lever 20 retracts plunger 27 so that it disengages from lever 15 which drops and lowers its weight 7 on to knifeedges 8. Levers 20 are provided with overlapping feet so that all having numerals lower than that depressed move with it releasing their weights, in the present case a total of 3 kg. The lug 26 of the pawl 25 moves downwards on actuation of levers 20 and 15 and holds plunger 27 to allow its subsequent engagement with lever 15 on the return thereof. The plunger 32 moves from its stop 48 allowing a displacement of arm 42, rods 47, 58, and lever 60, displacing discs 65, Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown), which display respectively, the limits of the weight range. To set the machine to its original position, crank 38 is turned to raise levers 15 and weights 7.
