Abstract

604,724. Wire cutters. HERCKELBOUT, R. Dec. 3, 1945, No. 32569. Convention date, Aug. 31, 1944. [Class 61 (ii)] The jaws 5 of a pair of wire cutters are circular and are provided with four peripheral notches 6. Three of these notches co-act with lugs 9 on the lever 1, and on the movable jaw member 4 to fix the jaws in place. The lever 1 and movable jaw member 4 are then pivoted together through a central hole in the jaws 5. A second lever 2 provided with a circular rack 13 is pivoted to the lever 1 and this rack co-acts with another rack 12 on the portion 4 to rotate one of the jaws 5. The remaining notches 6 on the two jaws thus act together as shearing blades. After one set of notches have become worn the jaws may be turned and other set used.
