Abstract

597,724. Games apparatus. COTTINGHAM, R. F. Aug. 24, 1945, No. 21748. [Class 132 (ii)] In apparatus for use in practising golf comprising a control element rotatably mounted at one end to a fixed structure and provided with a club carrying device at the other which permits the club to be swung by the player the rotatable control element is provided with a brake to impose a resistance to the swinging of the club. As shown applied to the apparatus described in Specification 597,706 a collar 24 is secured to the bearing 3 and has pivoted to it at 23 an arcuate brake shoe 22 while secured to the journal 7 is a collar 20 having formed therein a recess 27 within which is pivoted at 26 by means of cover plate 29 a brake element 21 for co-operation with the brake shoe 22 which is adjustable by means of a screw 25 carried by the fixed collar 24. The brake element 21 is so pivoted within the recess 27 as to be out of action on the up swing of the club but to come into action on the down swing of the club.
