Abstract
596,874. Hydrometers. BLAKE, T. O. April 6, 1945, No. 8565. [Class 97 (iii)] A hydrometer comprises a displacer, a support and a chain connecting them, the chain being of such a length as throughout the range of measurement to hang in a free loop between the displacer and the support and to hold the displacer wholly immersed in the liquid under test. In one form, Fig. 1, a graduated displacer 2 is attached by a chain 3 of fixed length to a support having a ring 5 to provide the datum for co-' operation with the graduations. In-another form the support which is fixed to the edge of the vessel is tabular 'and carries a wheel constituting an adjustable support for 'the chain. The wheel, which is calibrated, 'is turned to lover or raise the chain until a mark on the displacer co-operates with the datum on the ring. 'In another form the displacer is formed with a' longitudinal bore 'which receives a scale rod supporting one end of the chain.
