Abstract

A foot-arch support, which may be fitted by a chiropodist in his own office without the aid of a hand-press or similar equipment, is prepared by heating a blank of plastic material, having a contour approximately to that of the support required, until it is soft, and moulding it to shape by hand manipulation on a plaster cast of the foot being treated. If necessary, this may be done in several stages. The blank may be composed of laminations of fabric and cellulose nitrate sheet stock and its upper and lower edges are bevelled, with a relatively wide bevel on the shoe side of the support.
