Abstract
591,318. Cathode-ray oscillographs. SPERRY GYROSCOPE CO., Inc. May 14, 1945, No. 12120. Convention date, Jan 4, 1944. [Class 37] A pulse controls a time base generator for one component of movement of an oscillograph, and is applied over a delay circuit to control the other component of movement of the oscillograph so that the whole of the pulse is delineated on the screen. The pulse is applied at 4 to valve 2 and double diode 3 to produce a positive pulse for actuating a multi-vibrator constituted by pentodes 7, 8 whose screen grids act as anodes so that outputs can be taken from the plate circuits without affecting the multivibrator ; the pulse from valve 7 is applied to render the right-hand section of valve 17 non-conductive, thus allowing condensers 12, 13 to charge until the cessation of the pulse discharges the condensers through valve 17. The condenser potentials are amplified at 31 and applied to the deflecting plates of the cathode-ray tube 34. The original pulse is also applied over valve 36 and a delay network 37 to the other plates of the cathoderay tube. Marking pulses are developed from the output of valve 7 by an oscillator 44, shaping amplifier 46, differentiating circuit 51, 52 and limiting valve 54 and are applied to the control grid of the cathode-ray tube to produce bright spots on the base line. A pulse from valve 8 removes cut-off bias from the cathoderay tube during portrayal of the pulse. Specification 552,072 is referred to.
