Abstract

590,436. Inclinometers. CORLETT, E. C. B., and CORMACK, W. A. April 17, 1945, No. 9532. [Class 97 (ii)] A pendulum E is suspended at the top of a column A by a knife edge G and has its bob H in a damping chamber formed at the 'bottom of the column by horizontal baffles K and filled with viscous fluid. A prism J fixed to the bob H and provided with a hairline, reflects light from a fixed bulb into a telescope N. A micrometer screw O, for adjusting the telescope until cross-wires therein are aligned with the hair-line on the bob, indicates the inclination. A thermometer X is immersed in the fluid for use in applying corrections for viscosity effects.
