Abstract

589,305. Tooth epicyclic gearing. SCARF, C. T., and GOURLAY, J. Dec. 16, 1944, No. 25293. [Class 80 (i)] [Also in Groups XIX, XXIX and XL] . A handle B for setting a spindle A is keyed thereto and has bosses b and b<1> concentric with and eccentric to the spindle respectively. Internally and externally toothed wheels D and C are freely mounted on the bosses b and b<1> respectively. When the spindle is turned by the handle, the wheel C is prevented from turning by a slot c<2>, in an extension c<1> thereof engaging a stud e in a dial E and its teeth roll round within the teeth of the wheel D thus causing the latter to advance in proportion to the difference in the number of their teeth.
