Abstract

589,207. Washing-machines. CROSLAND, G. A. March 19, 1945, No. 6890. [Class 138 (ii)] The perforated rotary drum 2 has radial partitions 8 of concave-convex form providing compartments which are wide at one end, and taper off at the other. Preferably the direction of rotation is such that the wide end leads, so that the clothes are squeezed into the narrow end as they are lifted out of the washing liquid. and fall into the wider end as they re-enter. The direction may, however, be the opposite, or be periodically reversed. In a modification, each partition consists of two flat sections meeting at an angle to produce a similarly shaped compartment.
